Bob Franke's eighth album is a diverse collection of songs about loss, love, courage, compassion, and the Acid Polka. It features pioneering folk-rock drummer Dave Mattacks (Fairport Convention, Richard Thompson, Mary Chapin Carpenter); master guitarist Duke Levine (Carol Noonan, Mary Chapin Carpenter); bassist Paul Bryan (Aimee Mann); and stellar vocalists Julie Dougherty (Boston Horns) and Ellen Groves (Fishken and Groves).
"It is possibly his most musically exciting record and finest vocal performance. ...The ballads about the collapse of a marriage at midlife are devastatingly vivid, a different mood from the romantic brooding found in youthful love-gone-wrong songs. He spells them with hopeful anthems and smart, goofball humor, as in a savaging of new-age psychobabble called 'Go Heal Somewhere Else.'"
