Folk musician Cindy Kallet will appear at Saturday Night in Marblehead, monthly coffeehouse at the Church of St. Andrew, on Saturday, June 22, at 8 p.m. Kallet, a singer, guitarist, and songwriter, has taught and performed extensively throughout North America; she has appeared on A Prairie Home Companion and WFMT’s Folkstage. She has recorded eleven albums and published a songbook of original songs. Kallet’s first album, Working on Wings to Fly, was voted one of the Top 100 Folk Albums of the [last] Century by WUMB Boston radio listeners. Her Leave the Cake in the Mailbox—Songs for Parents and Kids Growing Up received the Parents’ Choice Gold Award in 2004. She is also known for her work with Grey Larsen, with Gordon Bok, and with Ellen Epstein and Michael Cicone. Kallet’s repertoire includes original songs about a wide variety of topics: love lost and found, home, the state of the world, raising children, and even skunks. She love sot share her favorite traditional and contemporary folk songs.
